Style Watch: Nicki Minaj and Rihanna

Here on IMF.blog, I am very excited about this summer! I've been very optimistic about what this summer has to bring in terms of clothing options, especially as the feel of the coming heat energizes me and makes me so ecstatic to contribute to a summer celebrating the fact that life is good! In this Style Watch I have to highlight not one, but two videos that have been released by two of the most undeniably hot and sought after artists of the year so far, Nicki Minaj, and Rihanna.

Both of these videos adhere to the bright, summer, fun vibe I have been feeling in my bones as of late, where Nicki Minaj reminds us of carefree fun on the beach in titillating bathing suits and neon colored hair, and  Rihanna takes a more dark, and sultry aesthetic, using tribal inspired looks and hot island dance moves to spice up our lives. Both of the women's beauty in these videos give me goosebumps and make my hair stand on end because they provide so much inspiration, not just to look fantastically perfect this summer, but to simply enjoy life and live in the moment.

Style Maven: Nicki Minaj

The many faces of Ms. Minaj

Available April 3rd
On these last days of the month I would like to close it out by helping to contribute to the record sales of Nicki Minaj's album sales. Nicki works hard at marketing herself (check out her twitter timeline @NICKIMINAJ) and I implore all to go out and purchase a copy of her second album "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" for Nicki is making history and gaining success and becoming an influence in other areas aside from simply being an rap artist. Not only does she represent turning your fantasies into realty, but she has helped (almost singlehandedly) to bring Hip-Hop to the forefront of the entertainment industry again, which could be due to of course her sheer talent, her special guest features in a range of other high profile artist's songs in the beginning of her career, and her rise to fashion icon. In my fashion, she is a rapping-business-chameleon,  representing the best example of how to sell oneself to the world, offering it something wildly original, bold, beautiful, and strong, yet classy the entire time representing having the restraint and reserve a women should have.

Another Year of Style

I thank God, for another
year of exploring style.
Yes, today is my birthday, and for today's post I wanted to take you to this past weekend when Dwight proposed an interesting observation to me. As he thought about his personality and his thought patterns, and how he would be the perfect candidate to be the tangible version of Nicki Minaj's alter ego, Roman, he observed that there cannot be that much of a variation in personality types in the world. It was funny because I had thought about this subject not too long ago, and I did some research on the subject and I came across my answer. There is basically 16 personality types according to late psychologist, Isabel Briggs Myers, and her Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). The reason why I bring about this subject on my birthday is because on my birthday it made me think of the personality I was born with and developed into. The link I provided for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a great site to explore who you are, and who other people are, and what specific characteristics make different people who they are. For $5.00 you can even take a Personality Test and find out which personality you are, specifically.

Although I didn't pay the $5.00 to get an accurate description of my personality, I most closely associate myself with  an "ISTJ" or a "Duty Fulfiller" as they describe, and Dwight agreed. Dwight was surprised to find out how accurate the description of his personality type, an ESTP or a "Doer",  was to his actual character. Possibly in the future we will pay the $5.00 to find out which personality the test says we are, and find the definitive answer because when you read other descriptions, one might also say to themselves they could be more than just one of the personality types.
