Style Watch: Shamar Forte

Anyone who is currently in a relationship or has been in one can attest that relationships are a showdown, much like artist Shamar Forte shows in his video entitled "Showdown". Any of us men who have had a lady can probably attest to the quote by, Muhammad Ali, that concludes this video: "My toughest fight was with my first wife." Women are beautiful creatures, but they sure can hold a grudge, and be quite nasty at times! In my fashion, it is a males duty to learn our women well enough to find the best approaches to communicate with them. The hardest part about it is having the patience to deal with the mind of a women. I've been paying attention to Keyshia Cole's show on BET, "Keyshia and Daniel: Family First", and I applaud them for inviting their fans to learn from the mistakes that they go through. Cole's husband, and point guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Daniel Gibson, surely goes through it dealing with a strong women such as the infamous, "Keyshia Cole", who has already had it rough in previous relationships. A bit of advise I caught from him is that in a relationship their must be respect for how each other feels: "He needs to respect her feelings as much as she respects him." In my fashion, learning to approach, respect, and understand the "independent women" is a relatively new feat for men in history. Women have shown just in this last century that they will continue to fight for their equality, so its imperative now more than ever for men to be open-minded and take a closer look into the female psyche to understand how to keep them satisfied, which in turn will make us men happy in the long run, am I right? It goes back to a Bit-O-Inspiro I shared not too long ago from, Pharrell Williams, "If you kiss her mind, her body will follow." In my fashion, a women can teache us real patience.

à la mode: It Had to Be You

In September I shared a quote from Pharrell out of BULLETT Magazine, a quarterly publication, which in my fashion, I feel like I am taken through a great balance of global fashion coverage. This Fall 2011 edition was "The Romance Issue" where they explore diverse expressions of love, chalk full of uniquely imaginative fashion concepts to get you in the mood for the direction I'm going with this month's theme on #IMFblog in regards to relationships and the laws of attraction. Their editorial spread "It Had to Be You" for example, I am sure, would get any of us in the mood for love. This salacious display of lusciously styled couples is an visual orgasmic experience, for this spread explodes with vibrant color combinations, over scale patterns, and a treasure trove of varying textures—an awesome show of what this FW2012 season trends are all about. Ponder over the following excerpts from the issues, "Editor's Letter" from Editor-In-Chief, Idil Tabanca, which, in my fashion, accounts for a very universal definition of love and romance:

Romance is defined as emotion over libido, the overwhelming feelings of love and admiration surpassing our animal instincts and driving us to display selfless acts of affection, pursuit, sacrifice, patience, and respect.

From the Trojan War to Brangelina, love's indomitable gestures have always played a major historical part in shaping humanity. A raw manifestation of love almighty, romance influences all walks of art and life, subtly shepherding us through our daily routines, making them bearable, and, at times, magical.

READing Your Style: Pharrell Williams

Pharrell Williams surely has come a long way from his early producing days with The Neptunes and his music with N.E.R.D. According to this feature interview conducted by Ask Men, on top of owning the record label, Star Trak, which boast such artists as Clipse, Robin Thinke and Teyana Taylor, he also owns two luxury clothing lines (Billionaire Boys Club/ IceCream) and and has many other ventures that make him quite a dynamic business man. I wanted to share this interview for we all are aware of Pharell's singular style and bravado helping to bring skater-chic to hip-hop, and in my fashion, I can concur with his tips and philosophies. Another fine example of Living for Your Style, read what he has to say here
