Stacy Keibler in Marchesa, Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad, Maria Menounos in Maria Lucia Hohan |
It was old Hollywood in a new millennia this year at the 84th Annual Academy Awards this year. It seems everyone got the memo that 40's glamour was the theme for this years red carpet. There was peplums, well defined hourglass silhouettes (reminiscent of mermaids), and dreamy soft, yet shinny colors, but we would expect nothing less at one of the most prestigious of award shows. Finding the best look was a bit of challenge. Some of my favorite looks that I battled with considering for top honors included: the ladies in red, Emma Watson, Joan Seymour, and Michele Williams, as well as the most demure of the night, Octavia Spencer, Rooney Mara, Penelope Cruz, and Li Bing Bing. I also loved the popping cobalt-blue number worn by Sherri Shepaherd, along with the sparkly sequined black pencil dress worn by Rose Byrne, and the shimmering gold draped dress on Meryl Streep was very appropriate of the Best Actress winner of the night. While those are my favorites of the night, top recognition has to go to the following:
Stacy Keibler: The WWE star, and recent Dancing With the Stars contestant shimmered her way down the red carpet with beau, George Clooney, looking arguably more ravishing than many of the other actresses in attendance. If the famous Oscars trophy had a paternal twin, Stacy Keibler would be his much better looking counterpart. She followed suit, dawning a Grecian-mermaid silhouette, and the Marchesa dress by itself was a masterpiece, especially with the rose on her right hip that coils so beautifully, delicately and boldly on her, as if it just hanging out at the top of her skyscraper legs. Her makeup and hair carried a soft glow that matched the dress' shimmer which made the dress appear so natural and perfect for this stunning example of the female specimen. Being known for her bodacious legs, they were covered up for this event, but it was alright, because the strapless dress was enough reveal to keep her young, and sexy-like.
Jennifer Lopez: As if this was a surprise, Jennifer Lopez continues to exude the epitome of a "curvy women", and how they should always look. The lines created by this bespoke dress make my eyes dance for days as all the lines come to meet at her abdomen and make her look incredibly regal. My favorite part of the dress was her exposed shoulders. This dress makes her seem like some sort of forbidden fruit that you don't see but only on the Discovery channel in some exotic region that is impossible to reach by a normal person. Her beauty is utterly other-worldly in this dress. Even though she did not recreate the cleavage of the green Versace "jungle" dress she wore at the 42nd Grammy awards in 2000, the cleavage of this Marchesa is very daring, bold, and sexy for the Oscars.
Maria Menounos: TV personality, Maria Menounos, is one of the cutest TV correspondents out right now. Maria will be appearing on the 14th season of Dancing with the Stars, and this dress makes me very excited to see her dance in decadent ball gowns. This chiffon piece looks so light and soft on Menounos' small frame and against her glowing skin. Not only is the mint green color young, fresh and popping, but if you ask me what pops more is her smile and energy. Even though she is not a coveted actress, Maria's candor and glow of optimism is what is so noteworthy about her in this dress. The combination of her aura and the light mint green mix well together where they form a mutal relationship where on needs the other to bring the radiance she exuded among the stars. The best thing about young Menounos is that we know she has a lot of growth to do in this industry and she makes me anticipate what she will wear at the next event, and how she will inspire me once more.
